How to choose the right basketball jersey and shorts size for your kid
New season, new team, new kit. And one question we hear from parents at every ZWISH camp: which size should I order? Kids grow fast, and every brand cuts a little differently. Here is a simple way to get it right the first time.
Start with your child's height
Height is the easiest number to get, and it is the main number in our Size Guide. Stand your child against a wall, no shoes, and mark the top of the head. Measure in centimetres.
For the ZWISH Basketball Jersey and Shorts, the guide gives a recommended size by height or age. It is an estimate, but a good place to start:
- Youth: 135–147 cm (about 7–8 years)
- XS: 148–159 cm (about 9–12 years)
- S: 160–169 cm (about 13+ years)
Age is only a rough guide. Two børn on the same U11 team can be very different heights, so trust the tape measure over the birthday.
Check the chart for the exact product
This is the step most people skip. Some of our collections have their own chart, because they are cut differently. The Melo & Miami jerseys and the Purple Blaze jersey each have a separate size-by-height table, with youth sizes from Youth S to Youth XL. The Muertos jersey has its own garment measurements.
So before you order, open the jersey section and the shorts section of the Size Guide and find the table with the product's name on it. The same height can mean a different size in a different collection.
Compare with a jersey that already fits
Our main tables show garment measurements: the length and chest of the jersey itself, laid flat. That makes it easy to compare.
Take a jersey or t-shirt your child already likes to wear. Lay it flat on a table. Measure across the chest, from armpit to armpit, and from the top of the shoulder to the bottom hem. Then match those numbers against the chart. For example, the ZWISH Basketball Jersey in Youth measures 41–43 cm across the chest and 56–58 cm in length.
For shorts, do the same. Lay a pair flat and measure the waistband from side to side (that is the "1/2 waist" in our chart) and the length.
Why reversible jerseys work well for practice
Club practice often ends with a scrimmage, and someone always has to switch colours. A reversible basketballtrøje has two sides, so your child can flip it instead of hunting for a bib. One jersey, two looks, less to pack.
Our reversible styles include the Melo Drip Reversible Jersey and the Purple Blaze Reversible Jersey. Remember: each has its own size-by-height table in the guide.
Quick checklist before you order
- Measure your child's height in cm, without shoes.
- Find the product's own table in the Size Guide.
- Read the recommended size for that height.
- Lay a well-fitting jersey and shorts flat and compare the measurements.
- Check jersey and shorts separately. They have different charts.
- Not sure? Ask us before you order.
Still between two sizes?
It happens. Kids rarely fit a chart perfectly. If the numbers leave you unsure, contact us. We reply in English and Danish, and we are happy to help you find the right fit for your child's season.
